We started our weekend holiday at the Lünerseebahn. You can take the bus from Bludenz to the mountain railway. We didn't use the railway. We walked up to the Lündersee and Douglas Hut via the 'Böse Tritt Steig'.

From the Douglas Hut we walked to the Lindauer Hut. There were many people. The Lindauer Hut has a nice garden with many plants which live in the Alps. We slept at the Lindauer Hut.

The next morning we walked up to the via ferrata Gauablickhöhle. On the way to the entrance you have a great view to the 'Drei Türme'. The via ferrata is really nice, not so difficult, a great view and a 400m long cave in the middle of the via ferrata. From inside the cave you cannot see any daylight and that was really scary!

At the end of the via ferrata you have a great view to the summit of the Sulzfluh. The path to the summit was full with snow. We walked up and enjoyed the view. We saw many people coming up the via ferrata and decided that we also want to do it. But not today - for today we decided to go to the Tilisuna Hut and have a nice dinner. We couldn't believe it - but we were the only people there! The hut only for us two - great!

We got up very early the next morning and started to walk to the beginning of the Sulzfluh via ferrata. The via ferrata was great - one of the best we have done so far! A great view and never boring. We were the first this morning and the only people on the summit! Great 🙂 After a good breakfast on the summit we walked back to the Tilisuna Hut and then down to the valley.

From the Vilsalpsee we went up to the Landsberger Hütte. On this way the weather was very bad - very wet and you could not see more than 5 metres in front of you. Nevertheless we were in a good mood, because the weather forecast said sunshine and blue sky for the next day. We stayed a the Landsberger Hütte from where we could see the north face of the Lachenspitze. This was what we wanted to do - the new via ferrata to the summit of the Lachenspitze.
We started before the breakfast the next morning and where the first people in the via ferrata. It was a very nice one. It went vertical up the north face and you had a great view from the top. We had a break at the top and walked down to the hut to have something to eat and drink. Then we enjoyed the nice weather the rest of the day and walked back down to the valley.

The Stuibenfall Waterfall is with a height of 159m the highest waterfall in Tyrol - and it has a fixed rope route which goes along the left side of the waterfall. It gives you a great view on the waterfall all the time while climbing up 300m.

We took the bus to Umhausen, from there we followed the signs saying 'Stuibenfall' until we arrive at a small shop and parking area. From there you walk through a forest for about 20 minutes until you arrive at the beginning of the via ferrata. From the start you can already see the great waterfall.

The first part of the via ferrata is a ropeway. This was our first route with a ropeway so it was quite exciting! Then you''ll find many fixed ropes.

Take a break and enjoy the waterfall from high above!

The last part is another more difficult ropeway. This one is really good, because it''s above the waterfall and for sure you''ll get wet 😀 This is a nice way to cool down on warm days 😉

After finishing the via feratta we enjoyed the waterfall and then took the normal way back to the little shop and the parking area.

In August 2009 we did our first trip to the Oetztal. The Oetztal is very famous for skiing in the winter. But it was summer and we decided to go hiking - and to go on a mountain which is higher than 3000m for the first time! We took the bus to Umhausen which is a small village with a nice waterfall. From Umhausen we start the ascent to the Erlanger Hut. In the beginning it is a long walk through a forest... After a few hours we arrive at Vordere Leierstalalm (1798m) where we take the first break.

After this sign you can already see the Erlanger Hut. But it is still a long way up... The first thing to do after arriving at the hut - order a Skiwasser! Right behind the hut is the beautiful Wettersee 🙂 After a little break we continue walking in the direction of the Wildgrat (2971m). The view of the Wettersee is so great! After enjoying the great view we go back to the Erlanger Hut to have some food. Really tired we went to bed and got up quite early the next morning, because we wanted to go up Fundusfeiler - our first ascent over 3000m.

Around lunchtime we arrived at the top (3079m) and enjoyed blue sky and sunshine. We continued to walk to the Frischmann Hut and had great food and stayed there over night. The next morning we started the descent back to Umhausen. All in all this was a great tour in a beautiful landscape.

We stayed at a camping site in Grän. From there we took the Füssener Jöchle railway up to the mountain. There we started to walk to the beginning of the Friedberger Klettersteig. We had a great view down to the valley with the blue Haldensee. From top of the Schartschrofen we went down the Friedberger Klettersteig. From there we continued to walk up the Rote Flüh. From the summit of the Rote Flüh we could watch some climbers on the Gimpel. That looked scary. Then we walked back down to the valley and wanted to take the bus back to Grän. But there was no bus to Grän! We were already too late. We asked some other hikers which were so kind to drive us back to Grän with their car.
