At our first day in Colonia de Sant Jordi we decide to explore the island by bike. A nice goal for today seems Cap de Ses Salines in the very south of Mallorca - about 18 km away. Our first plan is to take the direct route along the beach. After 20 minutes we give up because lots of fine grained sand spoils the party. So we take the road instead. First the road  leads to a village called Ses Salines. On this road there is still some annoying traffic. Maybe 10 minutes after leaving Ses Salines we turn right to a smaller road. Here we are almost alone on the road. The road is more or less straight and directly leads towards the Cap de Ses Salines. What we realize is that EVERYTHING to the left and to the right of the road is a "private" area - protected by fences or stone walls. The only thing which seems to be public is the road itself. The meaning of the word "private" (lat. privare = bereave or  release) certainly depends on the context here. Finally we arrive at Cap de Ses Salines. Beside a small light house here is basically nothing - just the sea and breakers 🙂 It is nice to just sit here watching the waves crushing on the rough coast.

During our vacation on Mallorca we stayed in Colonia de Sant Jordi. It is a good place to explore the island - beautiful coastline around and not too far to the mountains. From our apartment we looked directly to the harbour.

This weekend was said to be quite sunny. Therefore we decided to spend two days in Oberstdorf. We haven't been there for three months and started to miss the mountains. When we woke up on Saturday morning the weather was fine as promised. There was a lot of snow the day before. The famous Breitachklamm just opened on this day. Actually it is full with icicles the whole winter, but this year it was closed until Saturday because of too warm temperatures! We walked from Oberstdorf to the Breitachklamm and enjoyed the view down the canyon. It is an amazing natural spectacle! From the end of the Breitachklamm we continued to walk up in the direction of Söllereck. Close to the cable car station we enjoyed a coffee and cake before walking back down to Oberstdorf.

On Sunday when we woke up it was snowing heavily. After breakfast we went to watch some ski jumping. We have never seen someone doing it before and it looked very scary! Afterwards it was still snowing and so we decided to go bouldering in the climbing hall. That was fun! When we came back outside the sky was blue again and the snow stopped. So we enjoyed some more sunshine before taking the train back to Stuttgart.
