When we woke up today we saw many clouds out there and the weather forecast said that it will rain later in the day. So we decided to do only a short hike. We started in Oberstdorf and went in the direction of Gerstruben. Gerstruben is the highest village of Germany at 1155m. We chose the way via the Hölltobel and where amazed by the amounts of water coming down there!
On the way back to Oberstdorf we walked through a forest and along the way stopped for a cake and coffee. Fortunately no rain came 🙂

Today we took the bus to Birgsau and from there starting walking in the direction of the Krumbacher Höhenweg via Guggensee. We followed the Krumbacher Höhenweg almost until we reached the Fellhorn cablecar and then walked back to Oberstdorf. Even if it was still warm and sunny you can feel that winter is about to come!

What an amazing autumn day! On top of the mountains we can already see the first snow this winter. We started in Oberstdorf and walked to Gerstruben. From there we followed the way to the Dietersbachalpe. Many people still enjoyed food and drinks there in the sunshine. We continued upwards to the Älpelesattel which was already partly covered by snow. We were completely alone on our way. On top we had a long break and lay in the sunshine. Then we walked down to the Käseralpe and from there to the Oytalhaus. There we got some scooters which took us fast back to Oberstdorf!

The regional train from Boeblingen to Singen takes 2 hours. We bought the Baden-Württemberg-Ticket for 25 Euro plus 10 Euro for bike tickets. With this ticket we can take every regional train in BaWü. Our plan is to cycle from Singen to Konstanz today. The weather is quite nice – actually one of the first really nice days this year. We leave the train and cycle to Ueberlingen am Rhein. From there the road continues to Radolfzell at Lake Constance. After a longer break in the sun and having an apple juice with sparkling water we continue cycling into the direction of Konstanz until we see a sign which says Reichenau. Reichenau is a small island which has been nominated as World Heritage Site. So we decide this is a good chance to have a closer look here. We cycle to the island which is only connected to the mainland by one road with a huge alley. The island is quite nice – but still annoying that there are so many cars driving around. Instead of cycling all the way back we decide to take the ferry from Reichenau to Konstanz. It costs 18 Euro per person including bike – quite expensive... but still we think it's worth to do it. While waiting for the ferry we are sitting in the sun eating lots of ice cream from an ice cream parlour nearby. The ferry was quite small and there were not so many people on board. We enjoyed the one hour drive to Konstanz. In Konstanz there were many people around. The weather was still beautiful, but we had to take the next train home. But we are sure that we will come back to cycle another part along the lake and then maybe stay a bit longer than just one day.

On a nice weekend at the end of September we decide to take the train to Oberstdorf and do some easy hiking. We start walking to Spielmansau. From there we go up to the Kemptener Hut. The way to Spielmansau felt very very long and was a bit boring. But the rest of the path to the Kemptner Hut offered a great view around.

When we arrived at the hut we had something to drink and decided to walk up a nice looking summit which was not too far away. After a one hour walk we were on top of the Muttlerkopf. We enjoyed the sunshine and the view down to the hut and to the Großen Krottenkopf. When we came back to the hut it was really full with people! There must have been more that 300 people this evening! We enjoyed some great food outside and decided to go to bed early.

The next morning we were up early and started walking towards Kreuzeck. After we gained some height we had a great view to the Kemptner Hut. There was already some snow on our path. The way to Kreuzeck and finally to Raueck offers a wonderful view around - you can see the whole Allgäuer Hauptkamm with the Heilbronner Weg, Mindelheimer Klettertsteig, Hindelanger Klettersteig and also the Hochvogel.

We walked down from Rauheck to Käsealp. This way is really slippery and difficult to descend. From Käsealp we walked to the Oytalhaus where we enjoyed a drink and cake and ice cream 🙂 Then we continued towards Oberstdorf where we took the train back home. A tour which offers the best view around the Allgäu!
